cv_dingle_dangle_scarecrowWhen this book arrived by courier, I whooped with delight. I am a great fan of the Topp Twins who have entertained us for several decades. Country singing with good old fashioned and very unique New Zealand humour, which few comedians can pull off successfully.

Jenny Cooper once again joins Jules and Lynda as an illustrator of this gorgeous book. Her illustrations make this book even more endearing.

A scarecrow is hanging around in a field. We start off with:

When all the cows were sleeping
and the sun had gone to bed,
up jumped the scarecrow
and this is what he said……

“I’m a dingle-dangle scarecrow
with a flippy-floppy hat.
I can shake my hands like this
and shake my feet like that.”

The verses continue with the turn of a page with a parade of farm animals being included in the verses.

A CD accompanies this book which is a great addition to such a fantastic book. I firstly read this book to our youngest granddaughter, 16 month old Quinn. She loved the illustrations, pointing and making noises about each animal, but the real joy was when the CD was played. Quinn has in the last 2 weeks learnt to walk unaided, so she thought that dancing was very obviously the next step in life. Trying to do the shaking of hands and feet and jigging along (her very own unique form of dancing) and squealing at the same time between giggling was very funny and a privilege to witness.

Nearly 5-year-old Abby joined in with her little sister. The two of them at the end, saying “more Grandma, more Grandma.”

A beautiful book and a much listened to CD.
