This latest offering from Scholastic will not disappoint. As usual this book is of a very high standard with wonderful illustrations. Kyle Mewburn was born in Brisbane but has lived in New Zealand for a number of years. One of his previous books, Duck’s Stuck is a firm favourite with all of my grandchildren and one that I have read to all of them, many times over the years.

Abby my 2 ½ year old granddaughter was very interested in this latest offering. She laughed her way through the story making comments right throughout. This is a story of a chicken who could not lay an egg, with helpful advice from a from a variety of animals trying to help solve the problem. The ending is just delightful with Abby saying “read it again Grandma”, which to me is always an indication of how much she has enjoyed the story.

With Christmas fast approaching this book would make a wonderful gift or a great addition to any small person’s library. Highly Recommended.
